Current Meningitis B Guidance

Current Meningitis B Guidance

Children born after 2015 are routinely offered the Meningitis B (MenB) vaccine as part of the UK immunisation schedule. Those born before this date would not have been routinely eligible.

Children under 2 years of age who have not yet received the MenB vaccine may still be able to receive it as part of a catch-up programme. However, current guidelines do not offer the MenB vaccine to individuals over this age. If this guidance changes, we will inform patients.

The MenACWY vaccine is routinely offered by school nurses to young people aged 12–16 years, and there are currently no changes to this programme. Anyone aged 16–25 years who has not yet received the MenACWY vaccine can arrange a catch-up vaccination through the practice.
